cabin crew and many other professions may not be allowed to display tattoos – small tattoos can be easily removed with awake surgery at a single hospital visit. an increasing number of patients are choosing to have surgery because it predictably removes all trace of the tattoo and this is done at a single visit (laser treatment typically requires multiple sessions and leaves a trace of the tattoo). if you can easily gather the whole tattoo in a pinch of skin then it should be possible to remove it surgically.
slightly larger tattoos may require more than one operation to remove. very large tattoos, eg whole of shoulder / deltoid or all the way around the arm are unlikely to be amenable for surgical excision. skin grafting is an option for larger tattoos but this leaves significant scars.
